Booking a Komodo cruise takes five steps: send dates and guest count, receive a written quotation, confirm the cabin, transfer a 50 per cent deposit to hold the date, then pay the balance 30 days before departure. Inside 30 days, the full amount is due at confirmation. Deposits are non-refundable.
The five steps, in order
Booking a Komodo cruise is not complicated, but the sequence matters — particularly the point at which a date is genuinely held rather than pencilled.
- Send dates and guest count. Message the Komodo Luxury reservations desk on WhatsApp at +62 811 3823 875 or email sales@komodoluxury.com with your travel window, number of guests and whether you want cabins or the whole boat. If you have flexibility, say so — shifting by two days can move you off a full departure.
- Receive a written quotation. Ask for it in writing every time, with the cabin name, the rate, the departure date and what is excluded. A rate quoted in a chat message without those four elements is not a quotation.
- Confirm the cabin. Cabins are held briefly while you decide. Nothing is blocked at this stage.
- Transfer the 50 per cent deposit. This is the step that holds the date. It is also non-refundable, so do not take it until your flights are decided.
- Pay the balance 30 days before departure. If you book inside the 30-day window, the full amount is due at confirmation.

Eight cabins, 24 berths. Rates are per person on a shared (open-trip) 3D2N departure, fall as more guests share a cabin, and exclude national park fees.
For a whole-boat booking the structure is different — a single price for the vessel by group band rather than a per-person rate.

Whole-boat prices, not per person. A full-day charter starts at USD 5,400; the entry point for an overnight charter is USD 7,600 per night (about IDR 128,500,000 at the rate used on the operator’s Indonesian listing).

Timing: when to send the message

Three things worth asking that most people do not
“Which cabins are still free, not which are available?” On a boat with eight cabins the difference between Sandal and Lagoon 2 is USD 400 per person and a balcony. Ask for the actual remaining list.
“How many guests are booked on this departure?” Twenty-four is the maximum, not the norm. A departure with twelve booked is a materially different trip from one with twenty-three.
“What is the stop order for my dates?” The order of Manta Point and Taka Makassar routinely swaps with current and wind. Knowing the plan for your dates tells you which morning you need to be up at 04:30. Sailing times between every anchorage are published on the route map and sailing hours page.

Is the deposit refundable if I cancel?
No. The deposit is non-refundable on cancellation. That is published rather than buried, so you can plan around it: if your dates are genuinely uncertain, wait to deposit rather than deposit early and hope.
What happens if the trip is cancelled because of weather?
Weather decisions in Komodo are made by the harbour authority and the captain, not by the sales desk. If a departure cannot sail, the standard remedy is a reschedule rather than a cash refund, and the itinerary may be modified rather than cancelled — the more common outcome is a changed stop order, not a lost trip.
Do I need travel insurance for a Komodo cruise?
It is not a legal requirement and no operator in Labuan Bajo can compel it, but it is the only thing that covers a non-refundable deposit against illness or a missed connection. Check that your policy covers boat travel and, if you dive, that it covers diving to your certified depth.
Can I book a cabin for one person?
Yes. Lagoon 1 and Lagoon 2 take two but can be booked by a single traveller; ask the reservations desk about the single-occupancy arrangement in force for your dates, since it varies by season and by how full the departure is.
