The honest answer to a budget question
Most Komodo pages answer “how much” with a range so wide it is useless. Here is a specific answer for 2027, with the figures published rather than implied.
A cruise cabin on Naturalia costs between USD 450 and USD 850 per person depending on which cabin you take and how many share it. Two guests sharing a Lagoon cabin pay USD 900 for the whole trip, or USD 1,100 in Tide; a single guest can take the double bed in the Tide sharing cabin for USD 490.

Eight cabins, 24 berths. Rates are per person on a shared (open-trip) 3D2N departure, fall as more guests share a cabin, and exclude national park fees.
Now the additions. These are the same for every operator in Labuan Bajo, and any budget that ignores them will be wrong by 15 to 30 per cent.

The IDR 650,000 (Komodo/Padar) and IDR 900,000 (Rinca) figures quoted elsewhere are not the PP 36/2024 entrance tariff — they are bundled totals of park PNBP plus regional retribution plus ranger and trail charges. The IDR 3,750,000 “conservation membership” proposed in 2022 was cancelled and does not apply.

Flight figures are 2026 market ranges, not fixed fares: Bali–Labuan Bajo one-way typically IDR 600,000–900,000 promotional and IDR 900,000–1,500,000 normal economy. Verify at the time of booking.
That structure — a fixed cabin price, a regulated park fee, and a flight that swings by a factor of two — is why the flight, not the boat, is usually the variable that decides whether your trip fits the budget.

The useful observation: the cheapest published shared-boat rate in this market, USD 271.57 for 3D2N, is on a vessel carrying 32–35 guests. Our USD 450 entry cabin is on a boat capped at 24. You are paying roughly USD 180 more for a third fewer people on board. Whether that is worth it is a judgement, but it should at least be a judgement made with both numbers visible.
Three ways to lower the number without ruining the trip
Take a lower-deck cabin. Lagoon 1 and 2 at USD 450 have portholes instead of a balcony. They are also the quietest cabins when the boat is under way overnight, which is the only night you will actually be sailing while trying to sleep.
Sail in a shoulder month. April–June and September–November are calm, clear and cheaper than the July–August peak. The sea is at its best in exactly the months the crowds are not.
Fill a cabin. Aurea takes four at USD 480 each and includes a private balcony with a jacuzzi — the best value on the boat for a family or two couples travelling together. Tide takes four at USD 460 with two bathrooms.
What we would not recommend as a saving: cutting from three days to two. The 2D1N loses the Padar sunrise, which is the single stop most people came for — we work through what each night adds in how many days you actually need. The cost of the things nobody quotes
The drone permit is IDR 1,000,000 and needs seven days’ notice — it cannot be arranged on the morning of departure. Alcohol is excluded on essentially every boat in this market. Crew gratuities are discretionary and not built into any published fare. Dive packages are separate from snorkelling, which is included with equipment.

Park fees, flights, drinks outside the standard list and gratuities sit outside that figure.
What is the cheapest way to see Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point?
A shared open-trip cabin on a 3D2N sailing. Published market rates for shared boats start around USD 271.57 per person for 3D2N; our entry cabin is USD 450 on a smaller, newer boat. A one-day speedboat tour is cheaper still at about USD 105 published, but it cannot reach Padar at sunrise.
Are national park fees included in the cruise price?
No, and you should be suspicious of any operator who says they are without itemising. The PP 36/2024 entrance tariff is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit and IDR 50,000–75,000 for Indonesian visitors. Ranger and local retribution charges are collected on site and vary by island and group size.
Is the cheapest cabin actually worse?
Lagoon 1 and Lagoon 2 at USD 450 are lower-deck cabins with portholes rather than sea-view windows or balconies. They are air-conditioned and en-suite like every other cabin, they are the quietest cabins for sleeping under way, and they are closer to the waterline, which some guests prefer in swell.
